Gauging personal beliefs and attitudes towards transcendental issues is one of the most difficult tasks in sociology. The Santa María Foundation is conducting surveys and studies that are useful to everyone, especially educators. We provide some data on the attitudes of Spaniards towards ‘the afterlife’ through five indicators: the existence of an immortal soul, the existence of life after death, personal reactions to the death of a loved one, the existence of heaven, and the existence of hell.
