In this paper, we study the ontological dimension of evolution, from the metaphysical perspective of Ferdinand Ulrich, which is very much in line with the philosophical theological thought of Hans Urs von Balthasar. From the angle of Ulrich’s Metaphysics, we approach the ontic cause of creation and evolution, based on the guiding sentence of Saint Thomas Aquinas on being: «completum et simplex, sed non subsistens».
