Recovering the body: from Nietzsche to Butler

In this article I go through the conceptions of the body of Nietzsche and Butler, in an effort to show how each one of them helps us overcome a Modern error. Nietzsche allows us to recover the body and fight back Cartesian dualism, which values it so little, considering the body just as a machine. In turn, Judith Butler’s work, especially Precarious Life and Frames of War, helps us face individualism, making emphasis on the body’s sociality, the way in which our bodies speak about the others and are exposed to them.
