In this article we highlight the importance of Nicole Loraux’s reflections on Greek autochthony for Jacques Derrida's Politics of Friendship, published in 1994. Specifically, we analyze the fundamental character of this question of autochthony, worked by Loraux in various texts, for the Derridean deconstruction of the notion of fraternal democracy. In addition to that, we examine the affinity between the two authors: to read canonical texts of political theory seems to imply the reading of the sexual economy inscribed, but not said, in them.
