Throughout the three stages that mark the life of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, professor, prefect and Pope, the prayer of Jesus has been a core of his Christology. In the Introduction to Christianity (1968) said that in it is revealed the identity of Jesus as the Son, showing the truth of Christological dogma. In Look at the Pierced (1984) sets the basis for a spiritual Christology. In the triology on Jesus of Nazaret (2007-2011), builds a figure of Jesus developing the program of a spiritual Christology, which comes complete with an image of Jesus to pray to.
