The «Bologna effect» upon Canon Law in the Spanish Universities
Keywords:
Canon Law, curriculum, Ecclesiastical State Law, degree in LawAbstract
Canon Law has been a basic element in the construction and shaping of European legal institutions and even of Anglo-Saxon, contributing to legal technicality. His knowledge contributes to the formation of lawyers and it is necessary for professional practice, so the presence of Canon Law would be desirable in law schools. Nevertheless, within the new European Higher Education Framework proposed in Bologna in 1999 and its real adaptation in 2010, analysing the new degree curricula, we see that Canon Law has been removed as a curricular subject in the curricula of Law Degree in Spanish universities, both public and private. Given this fact, this paper puts forward some proposals which can help remedy this situation.
