The word of life was manifested: Christianity beyond the book
Keywords:
revelation, ideology, modernity, theology, Dei VerbumAbstract
The objective of the present article is to approach the concept of revelation beyond the will of power that has been contaminated by certain theological reflection in the time of modernity. This theology has reduced the event of revelation to an ideology that seeks to give a fulfilled explanation of reality, yet without any ambiguities. In this way, the author’s starting point is the Hegelian philosophy on revelation in an attempt to show its influence upon liberal theology, as well as the resistance toward it as seen in the philosophy of Kierkeegard and in dialectical theology. This will be the scenario where the reflection on revelation in Dei Verbum becomes fully meaningful of the encounter with God in the history. The historical concept of revelation, aside from ideological reductions, has helped post-conciliar theology to understand Christianity in terms of presence and absence, word and silence.
