The necessity of a philosophical mediation in faith and theology according to Karl Rahner
Keywords:
Karl Rahner, systematic theology, faith and reason, philosophy, theologyAbstract
This article reconstructs Karl Rahner’s attempt at philosophically justifying the possibility of a faith in a triune God’s definitive self-communication through the event of Christ. The necessity of such a philosophical demonstration of the mere possibility and plausability of a definitive revelation of God in history results from the fact of its having been denied (Lessing, Hick) as well as from the demand for self-mediation within the horizon of reason which is intrinsic to faith.Downloads
