This article explores the relationship between learning and the construction of identity, and the necessity of implementing methodologies and policies that take into consideration the social factors that can favor or impair student progress in the classroom. Specifically, the text aims to explain the relationship between learning an additional language and identity construction and the ways in which this is conditioned by the social context where the learning takes place.Downloads
