Abstract

This article quantitatively analyses political transnationalism among Swiss citizens in Latin America through civic competence indicators. Using multivariate techniques (OVERALS and HJ-Biplot), it explores the links between sociodemographic and migratory variables and political behavior. The findings of a sample of 539 valid responses reveal a strong civic predisposition but limited electoral engagement, partially supporting the political exposure theory. We proposed a political transnationalism index as a metric to assess diasporic engagement from Global North expatriates in Southern contexts.
