Public Protocol for the Selection and Renewal of Positions
In accordance with the provisions of Article 14.i) of the General Statutes and Article 6 of the Regulations of the Journal Migraciones, approved by the Governing Board at its meeting on 27 May 2002, the appointment of the Editor-in-Chief and the Technical Secretariat is the responsibility of the Director of the University Institute for Migration Studies (IUEM), and is subsequently validated at the proposal of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Faculty and after consultation with the Governing Board at its meeting on 5 February 2024.
The term of office of the Management and the Technical Secretariat is three years. The current term began on 6 February 2024. This term may be renewed by the same procedure for a maximum of three consecutive terms.
The technical editors are appointed by joint decision of the Management and the Technical Secretariat, and are always research staff linked to the IUEM. Their term of office coincides with that of the Management, so that their renewal follows the same timetable and principles. The Management and the technical editorial team strive to maintain a gender balance that reinforces the principles of equality and representativeness.
The Editorial Board and the Advisory Board are appointed by the journal's Management according to criteria of excellence in their field of specialisation, academic prestige, institutional and national diversity, gender balance and recognised contribution to the field of migration research. Both boards remain in office for the same period as the Management and must be renewed when a change occurs in the latter, following the same principles and selection criteria.
