The Poor, the Poverty, the Justice and the Charity
Keywords:
Poverty, justice, solidarity, charity.Abstract
The poor and poverty are the core of Luis Gonzalez-Carvajal’s moral reflection. He presents a social analysis of this reality, the image of a God who cares preferentially for the poor, the importance —in the Christian community— of a preferential option for the poor, a broad understanding of charity (linked with justice, politics and the truth), an exhortation to give our goods and give ourselves, a history of dedication to the poor in the Christian tradition, the importance of fighting against poverty not only preventing and attending but by changing the structures and, finally, an invitation to the pastoral of the Church to include the poor and the fight against poverty in liturgy and evangelization.
