El proceso de integración europea, inicialmente centrado en aspectos financieros y económicos, había ido incorporando progresivamente nuevas dimensiones de carácter social. No obstante, la vertiente económica continuaba desempeñando un papel fundamental en la Comunidad Europea. Desde una perspectiva ética, este trabajo analizó el proceso de integración europea tomando como referencia su dimensión monetaria y evaluándolo a partir de tres criterios fundamentales: la eficiencia productiva, la justicia social y la cultura.
