Cádiz: the nation took flight
Abstract
The bicentennial of our first political Constitution, the Constitution of Cádiz of 1812, is quite an event. The Spanish, prioritizing the historical rights of the old kingdoms of what until then was Spain, chose to become a unitary state and to live as members of the Spanish Nation. With the liberal Constitution of 1812, the Spaniards, against the already outdated Old Regime, were assured the rights and duties dreamed by the enlightened, freedom of expression and being citizens and owners of their own dreams.
