La pena de muerte en el Nuevo Catecismo

Muchos se han sentido desconcertados por la postura que el catecismo adopta frente a la pena de muerte y que consideran demasiado benévola y tolerante, como si sobre esta práctica no se hubiera dado una evolución significativa. Las críticas aumentan, como se ha visto en los medios de comunicación, cuando se constata el rigorismo que mantiene sobre el tema del aborto, al que se le mantiene, además, la pena de excomunión. ¿Existe, entonces, una incoherencia en la presentación de la doctrina católica?
