A juicio del autor, la fiesta de los toros, más allá de las polémicas que suscitaba, atravesaba un momento de notable vitalidad sociológica. Aunque se reclamaran mejoras en la calidad de los espectáculos y de sus protagonistas, la tauromaquia seguía despertando un gran interés social, reflejado en la pasión, el debate y la controversia que generaba.
